"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!..." Well, not quite yet, but it is not too early to plan your holidays in Northwest Montana! The Lodge will be presenting a Thanksgiving Dinner on November 25th, our traditional Dicken's Christmas Dinner on December 25th, and our annual Cowboy New Year's Eve Celebration on December 31st. Stay tuned for menues and details and be ready to cozy up in front of the fire with a glass of pinot and good friends.

April 25th 2pm  The Horse presents at Taste of Bigfork! Stop by The Tea Cottage for a little taste of the Islands as we serve up a delectable Caribbean Lobster and Sweet Potato Dumpling with Charred Pineapple Relish.

May 9th 9am - 2pm - Mother's Day Brunch with Dan Dubuque on Guitar Enjoy a silky Lobster Benedict or Huckleberry Chevre Stuffed French Toast (and more!) with a cool glass of champagne. Take your favorite lady out for a spring drive and a delicious brunch at the Horse prepared to order by Chef Kathleen. Price range $7 - $14. Reservations are required.

May 29th, 7pm - Rob and Halliday Quist Perform  Join us for an intimate dinner and concert of original music by Montana's official troubadour and his equally talented daughter. Limited seating is between 5pm and 6:30pm and reservations are required. $5 cover. 

June 8th, 7pm - World Tour of Beer  Explore the wonderous world of beer - both exotic imports and unknown domestics - with the Horse and Rocky Mountain Distributors. Enjoy a selection of mouth-watering tidbits while you sample 14 European and North American hand-crafted beers. Special pack pricing available. $20 per person. Must be 21 to attend. June 18th, 7pm - Maxwell Hay Performs "With a weathered guitar and a voice like a finely-tuned muscle car, Max's music is a spicy departure from the traditional acoustic act.  A savory mix of Irish, Blues, Folk, and sharp-(Sorry, Max is still touring in China...he'll be back in the fall with some great new music and tales of the far east!)witted original songs make for a gourmet entertainment experience.  Max's delivery is a full body workout of stomping feet, articulate harmonica work, percussive guitar work, and even the occasional egg-shaker!" This will be Max's third return to the Horse, so grab some friends and join us.

June 22nd, 6:30pm - Tuesday's Tantalizing Travel Tastings at the Horse  Join Chef Kate and crew every second and fourth Tuesday of the month as we explore various culinary regions of the world. You’ll enjoy a tempting six course tasting menu complete with  wine pairings in the intimate and fun atmosphere of the Horse’s dining room or garden. We begin with ‘Down Island’ Cuisine followed by explorations of India, Singapore, Argentina, South Africa, Turkey and Morocco. The Wilbur Rehmann Quartet performs in the garden. "Influenced by the high mountains and open plains of Montana, the WRQ has been featured on NPR's Morning Addition. Anchored by Wilbur Rehmann who's clean sound on alto is reminiscent of Paul Desmond, the quartet also features Mark Walker on piano, Rennan Rieke on acoustic bass and Jeremy Slead on drums. Fixed three course menu featuring a delicious carnivore or vegetarian entree,$24 per person. August 26th 7pm - Nashville's Tim Ryan and Montana's Troubadour Rob Quist perform in the garden. Not to be missed...this is the third time these two artists have joined up at the Horse and what a show it will be! Join us for an early price fixe dinner and then wander out to the garden with a glass of wine for an outstanding evening. Bring your lawn chairs. Reservations Absolutely Required as seating area is limited.$24 for dinner and concert, $10 concert only. 

Labor Day Weekend - 10th Annual Huckleberry Pancake Breakfast for American Red Cross. Once again the Horse turns its kitchen over to local volunteers and the American Red Cross for a deliciously fun weekend raising money for local families who have lost their homes to fire. The community has raised over $30,000 which has stayed in the valley. If you're headed to the Bigfork Car Show, stop in on your way and 'fuel up' with huckleberry pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice, all for only $6! Breakfast served Saturday - Monday, 8am -12pm.

September 2, 7pm  Dorian Michael Performs  Back at the Horse for the 10th year in a row! Dorian's unique fingerstyle acoustic instrumental guitar music is "contemporary traditional" with some surprises that keep his loyal fans coming back again and again.

October 15th-17th "I Write the Songs" Workshop with Rob Quist and Guest Artists For the serious or aspiring song writer, this will be a weekend not to be missed. We begin Friday evening with dinner and a concert of original music and stories of how the music came to be, performed by Rob Quist and his special guests. Saturday will be spent on learning song structure and putting pen to paper with an evening dinner performance by students presenting their work. Sunday's program concludes with writing refinement and information on how to produce, record and sell your songs. Meals and lodging are included. Day attendees are welcome on space availability. An e-brochure with full details, course descriptions and fees will be available after June 1st.

Flyfishing - Clear mountain streams and highland lakes offer the adventurous fisherman outstanding sport with brookies, cutthroat and rainbow trout. Flyfishing is de rigueur on Swan River, and Swan Lake offers world-class pike and bull trout. Explore on your own or find your fishing adventure with an experienced local guide. The Swan Lake Day Park located 1/4 mile from the Lodge provides a boat launch and dock facilities for boating, fishing and jet skiing. Rental powered water vehicles may be delivered to Swan Lake for your enjoyment.

Hiking, mountain biking or horse back riding the Swan and Mission Mountain ranges will be major highlights of your stay. Bring a camera  to the meadows of Lost Creek and be ready for black bear and grizzly, or Bond Creek for mountain goats. At the Oxbow Reserve spot a moose or a family of white tail deer. And of course, there's always Glacier National Park just a short drive away.

*Kayak the Swan River and get splashed by beaver or catch a glimpse of an elusive ermine searching for crayfish in the river mud. Paddlers may thrill to Class V high adventure on Swan River's Wild Mile or a relaxing paddle on Swan Lake. Easy to use sea kayaks and paddle boards are available at the Lodge.  Take a short walk to Morley's Canoe Shop, where Greg and his son Steve handcraft cedar canoes that are works of art as well as highly functional watercraft... but don't fall in love with one and expect delivery tomorrow... Greg's canoes are in such high demand, a two year wait is not unheard of!
