As the snows begin to blanket the peaks, we begin to prepare the Horse for winter slumber. The gardens are resting, set for spring renewal; the guest rooms refreshed and polished, silently waiting the first visitors in May; and letters sent out to musicians and artists for summer performance under the stars.

It has been a brilliant season, made so by the many returning guests and friends who have supported us over our 12 years here in beautiful Swan Lake. Your response to our Chef's Wine Tasting Dinners, the many dinner concerts in the garden,  and our continued efforts to provide exceptional service and a creatively simple yet elegant menu of mostly organic and natural products is most gratifying.

As the Horse rests below its winter blanket, we'll be off exploring the world, seeking out new dishes and wines, and learning new approaches to make your next stay with us even more pleasurable and relaxing.

On behalf of  Kathleen and her furred and feathered family, have a safe and wonderful winter.

For centuries the Swan has played host to a colorful variety of explorers and adventures seeking solitude or wealth in its rugged mountains and cascading streams. As you hike the Mission Mountains Wilderness or leisurely kayak on Swan Lake, listen to the wind and you may hear the echoed voices of trappers and wilderness homesteaders. Today, the Swan still welcomes adventurers and explorers from around the world seeking an outdoor experience that is uniquely Montana.
Laughing Horse Lodge is nestled at the base of the Swan Range and the Bob Marshall Wilderness at the southern end of Swan Lake. We are conveniently located on Montana Highway 83 between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks providing a perfect base for year-round outdoor adventure in Glacier Country. Air travelers fly into Kalispell's Glacier International Airport, located 35 miles from the Lodge, or into Missoula - a beautiful 2 hour drive from the Lodge.

Enjoy the summer twilight on the back deck, and when the fall air begins to chill, snuggle up with a good book and a hot toddy or spin some tall tales in the pub.
